Saw this on another Fan page, and HAD to share!

Date a girl who reads. Date a girl who spends her money on books instead of clothes. She has problems with closet space because she has too many books. Date a girl who has a list of books she wants to read, who has had a library card since she was twelve.
Find a girl who reads. You’ll know that she does because she will always have an unread book in her bag. She’s the one lovingly looking over the shelves in the bookstore, the one who quietly cries out when she finds the book she wants. You see the weird chick sniffing the pages of an old book in a second hand book shop? That’s the reader. They can never resist smelling the pages, especially when they are yellow.

She’s the girl reading while waiting in that coffee shop down the street. If you take a peek at her mug, the non-dairy creamer is floating on top because she’s kind of engrossed already. Lost in a world of the author’s making. Sit down. She might give you a glare, as most girls who read do not like to be interrupted. Ask her if she likes the book.

Buy her another cup of coffee.

Let her know what you really think of Murakami. See if she got through the first chapter of Fellowship. Understand that if she says she understood James Joyce’s Ulysses she’s just saying that to sound intelligent. Ask her if she loves Alice or she would like to be Alice.

It’s easy to date a girl who reads. Give her books for her birthday, for Christmas and for anniversaries. Give her the gift of words, in poetry, in song. Give her Neruda, Pound, Sexton, Cummings. Let her know that you understand that words are love. Understand that she knows the difference between books and reality but by god, she’s going to try to make her life a little like her favorite book. It will never be your fault if she does.

She has to give it a shot somehow.

Lie to her. If she understands syntax, she will understand your need to lie. Behind words are other things: motivation, value, nuance, dialogue. It will not be the end of the world.

Fail her. Because a girl who reads knows that failure always leads up to the climax. Because girls who understand that all things will come to end. That you can always write a sequel. That you can begin again and again and still be the hero. That life is meant to have a villain or two.

Why be frightened of everything that you are not? Girls who read understand that people, like characters, develop. Except in the Twilight series.

If you find a girl who reads, keep her close. When you find her up at 2 AM clutching a book to her chest and weeping, make her a cup of tea and hold her. You may lose her for a couple of hours but she will always come back to you. She’ll talk as if the characters in the book are real, because for a while, they always are.

You will propose on a hot air balloon. Or during a rock concert. Or very casually next time she’s sick. Over Skype.

You will smile so hard you will wonder why your heart hasn't burst and bled out all over your chest yet. You will write the story of your lives, have kids with strange names and even stranger tastes. She will introduce your children to the Cat in the Hat and Aslan, maybe in the same day. You will walk the winters of your old age together and she will recite Keats under her breath while you shake the snow off your boots.

Date a girl who reads because you deserve it. You deserve a girl who can give you the most colorful life imaginable. If you can only give her monotony, and stale hours and half-baked proposals, then you’re better off alone. If you want the world and the worlds beyond it, date a girl who reads.

Or better yet, date a girl who writes."

A Writer's Return

WOW!! Once again, I return, and my only excuse can be, "Life is just SO BUSY!" It's been a rather emotionally draining couple of months. So far, 2012 has brought about such a plethora of emotions, that most of the time, I'm not sure WHAT I'm feeling. Two dearly loved family members, have gone home, to be the Lord. And while my soul rejoices in that knowledge, my heart aches for just one more hug, and my mind attempts to wrap around the idea that this world no longer has two such wonderful people gracing us with their smiles.

BUT... as always, I square my shoulders, put on my game face, and push forward. Book two (I know this is what you've all been waiting on baited breath to hear about..) is well underway! Not as far along as I'd like, but definitely getting there. Book 1, was written when I had long evenings to myself, without worry or care. This time around, I'm afraid, Book 2 often get's put aside, to change a diaper, fix a lunch, tend a scraped knee or referee yet another squabble between brothers. ;) BUT, work IS being completed, and though I have no serious timeline created (as the power a 4 and 2 year old holds over time itself is astounding!!) I DO promise you that Desta, Logan, and the rest of the gang have NOT been forgotten!!

A Busy Busy Muse!

WOW!

Between a 4 year old. An almost 2 year old. A husband. My Mary Kay Business. And life. "Me" time has be sparse at best! But, as the weather evens out, and the Midwest Heat wave is on it's way out, I find that my Muse is returning more and more. Regardless of what the little one's have to say about it. One of these days, they're going to learn that hard lesson. "My mom's muse is demanding. And she always gets her way." Haha!

That said, the laptop is getting dusted off, and the glorious white light that illuminates an otherwise darkened house keeps me company at night, as more and more words begin to fill my Word Document. Sentence by sentence. Paragraph by paragraph, Desta and Logan continue their journey, meeting friends, both old and new. How exciting is that? Is your mouth watering to learn who this new man in her life is? I know I am! And I love that Lady Desta has chosen ME to be her bard.

So, keep watching for more updates! And soon enough, there will be contests galore again, for your chance to grab a sneak peak before the rest of the world!

Giveaway Contest!

With the holidays coming up on us fast, we've decided to do not one, but TWO contests, to give two lucky fans the opportunity to win their very own copy of NyteBeauti, or a second copy, as the case may be, to give as a Christmas Gift!

So, here it is, the FIRST Christmas NyteBeauti Giveaway Contest!

Let's test your vampire knowledge! We've all seen the movies, watched the shows and played the games. We've all talked about them, in depth. But how many do you REALLY know, at a glance? Below, we've posted several photos of some familiar (and some not so familiar) vampire movies, video games and TV shows. How many can YOU name?

**The Rules**
1. Subscribe to the blog, so you can post a comment. (If you haven't already)
2. Post a comment, listing, in order, the names of the show/movie/video game in each photo.
3. Post on the Fanpage, to let us know you've entered here.
4. Get your entries in by Monday, Dec 6th. Winner will be announced Tuesday, Dec 7th.

Either the participant with the most correct answers will win, or in the case of multiple winners, each winning post will be given a number, and using a random generator, we'll draw a winner. :)

Good Luck!!!
